“Essentials PT is an absolute must for pregnant and postpartum mommas!
Thanks to Essentials Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy, I had the most wonderful pregnancy and birth of my son. As a first time mom, I was anxious about delivery and what to expect. Ali kept me strong throughout my pregnancy, taught me how to effectively push, and helped me regain my strength postpartum. My son was delivered in 4 pushes, and the doctor even commented on how perfectly I was pushing!”

FAQs
-
As soon as you’re ready! We typically see women who are around 16 - 32 weeks pregnant and will support you until you deliver.
Seeing us early in your pregnancy allows us time for more meaningful work. We prefer an earlier start with less frequent visits. We’ll help you minimize tearing, push more efficiently, + prepare for faster postpartum recovery.
If you’re experiencing any type of pain or discomfort, don’t wait. Let’s address those issues to keep you active and enjoying your pregnancy.
-
If you’re experiencing hip, low-back, rib, or general pain in or around your pelvic area, give us a call. These are common during pregnancy but they’re not normal. We can help you feel more comfortable while you’re carrying your baby.
Also, if you were active regularly before pregnancy (CrossFit, running, lifting weights, etc.) and you’ve stopped due to pain or fear, we can help you get back to working out with some simple modifications for exactly what your body needs.
-
Both.
Pelvic Floor physical therapy during pregnancy will strengthen your muscles, relax your pelvic floor, and connect your breathing for a more comfortable pregnancy and easier delivery. These foundations will lead to a more efficient postpartum recovery because your muscles are already strong, your breathing coordinated, and you’ll have tools you need to continue your recovery.
However, It’s never too late to come see us to work on your pelvic floor issues. Ask any of our clients – they’ll all tell you they wish they came to us sooner.
-
Every body is different. Without an evaluation, it’s hard to say when you should see a change in your symptoms.
However, we will say that our clients who follow our customized plans typically see a change in symptoms in 1 to 3 visits. It takes less time than you think!
-
You can, BUT are you getting personalized support? Are you experiencing any type of pain or discomfort as your pregnancy progresses? Are they giving you modifications for when that happens?
We provide individualized exercises to treat your specific issues and provide support as your pregnancy advances. You can certainly continue with your preferred exercise program, but we’ll make sure it’s truly benefitting you and working towards your goals.
-
We get it. We’re moms in this economy too.
Check with your insurance company to see if you have Out-of-Network provider benefits. See if you have HSA/FSA funds that can go towards your visits.
If not, some clients have requested funds towards PT visits for baby showers or “Push Presents”.
And, as always, you’re welcome to view our <<Resources>> and Instagram page for free tips + exercises that may benefit you. We just ask you to keep in mind that these are general guidelines and tips and may not be right for you. We only know what’s exactly right for you if you are one of our clients.
-
We get it. During the deep-dive of our sessions, we want you to tell us exactly that. We’ll help you identify where + when you can get your exercises in to resolve your pelvic floor issues.
Long commute? → Do your breathing exercises in the car
Sitting all day? → We’ll focus on seated exercises
Older kids in sports? → We’ll show you what to do while they’re practicing
We ask that all of our clients are ready to make the commitment to work with us before we begin. If you’re willing to put in the work to feel more like yourself, we’ll find a way for you to get it done.
