“Ali and her team are amazing! I was 7 years postpartum when I started seeing her and I saw amazing results! My only regret was I waited so long to start!

Pelvic Floor physical therapy during pregnancy will strengthen your muscles, relax your pelvic floor, and connect your breathing for a more comfortable pregnancy and easier delivery. These foundations will lead to a more efficient postpartum recovery because your muscles are already strong, your breathing coordinated, and you’ll have tools you need to continue your recovery.

However, It’s never too late to come see us to work on your pelvic floor issues. Ask any of our clients – they’ll all tell you they wish they came to us sooner.

  • Every body is different. Without an evaluation, it’s hard to say when you should see a change in your symptoms.

However, we will say that our clients who follow our customized plans typically see a change in symptoms in 1 to 3 visits. It takes less time than you think!

  • We Listen:

We’ll ask you to tell us all about your aches, pains, + concerns. Nothing is TMI. We’ve heard (and probably experienced) it all! We want to know all about you so we can focus on the source of your discomfort and go from there.

    We Move:

We’ll assess your movements and teach you specific exercises + techniques to target the root of your discomfort. We’ll make sure to coordinate your breathing for efficient movement and make sure you get it right before you go.

    We Follow Up:

We’ll send your personalized plan right to your inbox with videos of each exercise so you won’t forget. We’re here to help you with any questions or issues that arise.

    We got you!

  • Here’s our rule of thumb:

    • Have a visit once every 1-2 weeks

    • You should see a change in your symptoms in 1-3 visits - it takes less time than you think!

    • Our average client is dismissed after 7 visits

  • Our providers are specially trained to perform internal pelvic floor muscle exams to gather information + provide treatment as needed.

This type of exam is not mandatory.

Your provider will discuss your specific concerns + goals then move forward with the tests + exams that are appropriate for you.

  • Yes!

We’ll focus on strengthening the core, pelvic floor, and surrounding muscle for more support and improved appearance.

  • It’s not too late! We help moms several years postpartum fix their diastasis recti gaps.

It just takes commitment to do the work.

  • It’s not too late! We can help you years after you’ve had a baby.

But honestly, don’t wait. The number one thing our clients say is that they wish they contacted us sooner.

  • Whenever you’re ready.

We recommend gentle movement before 6 weeks postpartum and a gradual program to build strength past the 6 week mark. Your pelvic floor PT will guide you in returning safely to the exercise you love.

  • When you’re ready. We know, it’s not a clear answer, but every body is different.

It depends on your muscle strength before birth too. By building muscle during pregnancy, you can help improve postpartum recovery and get you running sooner.

  • Maybe! Essentials PT + Training is an Out-of-Network provider.

NJ resident: You may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance provider if you have out-of-network benefits. You can also use HSA/FSA funds for your visits. I suggest calling your insurance company and confirming your benefits.

Non-NJ resident: Essentials PT cannot take your insurance benefits for these visits. If this is a barrier please reach out using the contact form and let's talk about your options.

  • We get it. We’re moms in this economy too.

Check with your insurance company to see if you have Out-of-Network provider benefits. See if you have HSA/FSA funds that can go towards your visits.

If not, some clients have requested funds towards PT visits for baby showers or “Push Presents”.

And, as always, you’re welcome to view our <<Resources>> and Instagram page for free tips + exercises that may benefit you. We just ask you to keep in mind that these are general guidelines and tips and may not be right for you. We only know what’s exactly right for you if you are one of our clients.

  • We get it. During the deep-dive of our sessions, we want you to tell us exactly that. We’ll help you identify where + when you can get your exercises in to resolve your pelvic floor issues.

Long commute? → Do your breathing exercises in the car

Sitting all day? → We’ll focus on seated exercises

Older kids in sports? → We’ll show you what to do while they’re practicing

We ask that all of our clients are ready to make the commitment to work with us before we begin. If you’re willing to put in the work to feel more like yourself, we’ll find a way for you to get it done.
